Congratulations to Kashiwa Reysol for taking out the title in what was a thrilling 2011 J.League season. I try not to rave too much about the opposition on this site, but I guess now is as good a time as any to send a few kudos their way. As far as I know, they are the only team to ever win the title after being promoted from J2 - quite an amazing achievement when you think about it. And they did it in style - attacking, free flowing football from start to finish. What made their title even sweeter was that they prevented the odds on favorite Grampus from taking out a consecutive championship, as well as Gamba from winning their 2nd title which would have been an absolute disaster.
The three above mentioned teams all qualify for next year's ACL, while we have to say goodbye to Kofu, Fukuoka and Yamagata who have been relegated to J2 for 2012. Congratulations to F.C. Tokyo, Sagan Tosu and Consadole Sapporo on their successful campaigns this year that will see them promoted to J1 next year. Stay tuned for a detailed look back over Vissel's 2011 season and our preparations for next year, but for now, let's just say that 2011 has been another great roller coaster for all J.league supporters and we look forward to a bigger and better season in 2012.
