Captain Takayuki?

The club have announced that YOSHIDA Takayuki will be captain for the 2011 season.
I hadn't even considered the possibility that Okubo would not be captain this year so this announcement took me completely by surprise. However, this is not to say that I believe Okubo is the best person for the job. It's just that apart from the Brazilians, I would say there are only a few players who are even guaranteed a regular starting spot - namely Okubo, Kitamoto and Komoto. Off the top of my head, although he made many appearances as a sub, Yoshida started fewer than half of our games last year, many of which were due to injuries and absences of other players. Anyway, it can't be denied that he was one of our better players last season, particularly instrumental in the final push for survival. He is a local lad, very experienced and, as the youngest member of La Famiglia reminded me yesterday, has the best song out of all Vissel players.

Ale Takayuki Ale!

This decision gives us an indication of the formation that Wada intends to play this season, but that's for another day.
